Broker request limits and copy delays
Why a busy login can slow copying, and how to avoid it.
Brokers limit how many requests one login may make in a short time. Every copied order, cancel and account read counts. Replica stays inside the limits, but when a login is already busy, the broker makes it wait.
Tradovate and NinjaTrader
Tradovate limits how many requests one login may make per minute and per hour, and can change those limits. All accounts under one login share them. Replica keeps its own budget below the usual hourly limit. If Tradovate still asks it to wait, only closing orders go out during the wait; an entry that could only go out late is not sent at all, rather than entering at a stale moment.
TopstepX (ProjectX)
ProjectX limits requests per login too, and the TopstepX platform open on the same login uses the same allowance. When ProjectX asks Replica to slow down, Replica waits and sends again; closing and Flatten keep working.
Rithmic
Replica paces its account checks to Rithmic’s rules, and receives orders and fills live rather than asking for them.
How to avoid delays
- Avoid bursts of fast submit, modify and cancel clicks on accounts Replica copies.
- Use one copy tool per account and per login.
- Spread many followers over more than one login where your firm allows it.
